Throughout the world, migrants and refugees have faced discrimination and inequality. Many exist on a day to day basis unable to make long term plans due to the fragility of their status in the countries they have chosen to live in. Many have children born in these countries who eventually become citizens but are exempt from accessing mainstream support accorded to other children. They pay large sums of money to be able to prolong their stay in these countries thereby taking away money that could be put towards their children’s futures. As a result of the precarious circumstances many are in, they are usually not in a position to support themselves or their dependants when their circumstances change or when their application to continue to remain in these countries fail. ProRecourse provides the temporary much needed support they need whilst they embark on building a better future for themselves and their families.
ProRecourse Foundation is a non-profit organisation dedicated to upholding the dignity of migrants and refugees. We provide the temporary much needed support they need whilst they embark on building a better future for themselves and their families in the UK. We do this by providing a wide range of temporary short term financial assistance and advise. We also highlight the effects of immigration policies on children’s well-being, and disseminate the results of our engagement to the public, donors and policy makers. Our approach recognises the complexity of identity and different experiences. We adopt a value based intersectional approach and consider how a myriad of social categories can impact one’s experiences and access to resources or social justice.
Our Vision
A world where the existing structural barriers, discrimination and bias that impact the well-being of migrants and refugees is not compounded by their inability to support themselves when faced with a change in personal circumstances.
Our Values
Resilience, respect and the desire to uphold human dignity regardless of race, nationality, religion, sexuality or any other differences that set us apart are the key values we hold. We are all created equal and we believe that these differences should not determine one’s level of success.
